Winter has arrived and there are a few things to keep in mind with the snow that comes along with it, as well as the impact that snow can have on your internet.
Satellite internet service is the most likely internet culprit to have connection issues during bad weather since data has to travel through air rather than cables to bring internet to your home. Plus, the dishes themselves are outside in the elements which may weaken the signal if you do not gently remove the snow from your satellite dish with a soft bristle brush. If the snow cannot accumulate on your dish you will have a better chance of keeping your internet signal at its best.
If there is an outage of another type of internet such as cable, fiber, fixed-wireless, or DSL, it usually will have occurred due to equipment and/or infrastructure failure during the storm. Snow storms can freeze and crack cables, or lines/nodes can accidentally get cut during snow blowing and or snow plowing.
If you’re experiencing an internet outage during the winter months please make sure to check your satellite dish first. If you are still running into issues feel free to contact us and we would be happy to help get you back up and running.
